In early September our Certificate IV in Guiding students ventured up to the North East of Tasmania for a four-day Mountain Biking extravaganza.
We had spent a couple of weeks during the previous months in Hobart and its surrounds learning all the Mountain Biking tricks and tips from our expert teacher, and honing our skills for the final trip. At last we were able to put all we had learnt to the test.
We experienced the best of the best, riding trails at Trevallyn, Hollybank, the new Blue Derby and finally having a well-deserved and relaxing ride along the North East Rail Trail.
Over the four days we had the wonderful opportunity to work on and perfect our Mountain Biking skills, including switchbacks, drop-offs and especially our berms!
The trip itself had it all: stunning weather, with beautiful sunny skies, creek crossings, along with the odd mechanical issue that was quickly attended to by our expert student guides. There was even a visit to a mine!
All in all, it was an incredibly memorable trip. We rode some of the most beautiful trails (including Dam Busters!), were guided by wonderful guides and ate like Kings and Queens…what more could you ask for!?
